There are many reasons bow hunters choose crossbows over compounds! People have bad shoulders, they are young, old, or maybe they just want to use a crossbow and that is their propagative. I hear it all the time, "Crossbow hunting is cheating!" Coming from the guy shooting a $1000+ compound with a Garmin Site on it! Regardless of what you shoot, you want a bow that is right for you! I am going to recommend 3 different crossbow brands at 3 different price ranges!

Expensive- Ravin Crossbows:

Worth every penny! These bows range anywhere from $1300-$4100. They were voted best crossbows of 2023! These bows are top of the line with a built in cocking and de-cocking mechanism which is super nice for any hunter! To make these bows even better, they are handcrafted in Superior, WI! These bows are crazy accurate up to 100 yards! I don't dare shoot two arrows side by side, the bolts are expensive and if you are going to Robinhood a bolt, it's going to be with a Ravin Crossbow!

Middle of the road- Mission Crossbows

These are still expensive don't get me wrong, but they are good bows! I shot a Mission Sub 1 and a Ravin R20 in the same day and I will say that the Ravin had more power, but the Mission is still a great shooter! I would suggest you spend the extra couple hundred dollars and jump to the Ravin. If you can't swing it, 100% buy a Mission. Missions are a very-well made crossbow, but that Sub 1 still used ropes for cocking and that is a big turn off for me! I should also note that Mission Crossbows are a Wisconsin based company, located in Sparta!

Cheaper- Killer Instinct

Their cheaper crossbows range from $280-$500. These are great starter crossbows for kids or someone just getting into bow hunting! Their scopes are cheaper, they are a chore to cock by hand or with ropes, but they will 100% do the trick! Don't expect to be able to feel confident taking 60+ yard shots like you would with a Ravin, but 10-45 yards you should be deadly still!
